Kindle Direct Publishing Results

So, you all should know that last week I gave away Kindle copies of my book, While You Were Here, for free.  I had previously done the same thing a little over a month ago for my YA novel, Girl Band – this was before the cover changed.  Anyway, thought everybody would like to know that during that time I managed to give away a total of 386 copies through the following stores:

Amazon US – 369

Amazon UK – 15

Amazon DE – 2

While 386 free copies didn’t exactly set the world on fire it was enough to keep the book hovering somewhere in the mid-1500’s for the week – sometimes it was higher, sometimes it was lower – which was pretty good.  The thing that amazes me, though, is that I gave away those 2 copies in Germany.

The only postings I did anywhere about the give away were on the Kindle Boards, Amazon Boards, my news feed through Author’s Den, and this site.

Anyway, for comparison, the promo I did for Girl Band was shorter than for While You Were Here (2 days as opposed to 4), and the postings I did were on the Kindle Boards, Amazon Boards, and pimping to my friends through Facebook.  Now, you’ll have to remember that this was pre-cover change so the numbers might be skewed but I gave away a total of 260 copies across the following stores:

Amazon US – 234

Amazon UK – 24

Amazon DE – 2

While the 260 copies also did not set the world on fire – although, to be fair, I clearly have two loyal readers in Germany – because of the compressed time, and because of the quick action of my Facebook friends, this book actually climbed to around #850 on the Amazon rankings.  However, because of the compressed time, it also hit a free fall.

Anyway, don’t be afraid to follow the links to Amazon and click around and find my stuff to buy.  Buying always makes you feel better.
